Sencha is a loose leaf tea of medium to high quality and is one of the more commonly available teas available in Japan. It is not sold in a powdered form – the most familar form of powdered tea are called macha. There are powdered tea mixes available for instant drinks, but these are generally made from lower quality leaves unsuitable for normal consumption.
Sencha powder tea
they mainly drink loose leaf
When I lived in China, we usually drank loose-leaf green tea. By your final cup, you were usually picking bits of tea out of your teeth. Tea bags weren’t very common, and I don’t recall ever having powdered tea.
powder tea? No thanks. It’s as bad as instant coffee. or Nestea Ice tea powder mix.
Mainly we drink loose leaf tea such as Senncha , Banncha, Gennmaicha and Houjicha. Powdered tea is a very special one. Expensive and difficult to prepare. Rather ceremonial.
I like its taste but it depends on person. I am a Japanese and
writing this from Japan.
Powdered Senncha? I think it’s "Gennmaicha dusted with green tea powder". Rich flavour and aroma. You won’t be troubled with the remains of the tea leaf between your teeth in Japan.
